When people think about selling nudes, they probably imagine seedy truck stops and motel rooms. But this isn’t the dark ages: You can now sell nudes online and get paid through PayPal or Venmo.
Enter ChickTok, a social media app that lets you share photos and videos with other snap fuck profiles. It’s like the TikTok for adults only. About a month ago, a user named Britney started selling nudes on the app in order to make some extra cash. It worked: She’s made thousands of dollars off this venture. The Daily Beast talked with three students who use ChickTok to sell nudes for money.
Jenny from New York
Jenni (not her real name) is a junior at State University of New York (SUNY). She explained what ChickTok is to us.
“Chicktok is basically like Snapchat, but you get paid for the amount of followers that you have,” she said. “You just post videos or pictures and then people can pay you to see it.”
Jenni was having difficulty making ends meet in the pricey city of Albany, New York. She found herself turning to selling nudes on ChickTok as a way to pick up some extra cash.
“I got 2,000 followers within I think four days,” Jenni said. “People started asking for nudes and I said ‘yeah why not?’ But when I posted them people actually paid.”
Britney from SUNY Cortland
Britney is a junior at SUNY Cortland. She’s been selling nudes on ChickTok for about a month now, which is how she makes most of her money when she’s not busy studying. For Britney, the fact that she gets to stay anonymous while monetizing herself was what made her comfortable with this form of selling nudes.
“I knew it was different from other apps because you could sell your pictures without having your face up there,” Britney said. “That’s why I originally went with Chicktok.”
Britney has made almost $3000 off selling her nudes on the app, which she does by charging about five dollars a photo and 10 dollars for a video. She admits it’s a risky venture, but one she feels is worth it.
“You definitely feel kind of weird whenever someone watches your Snapchat or follows you on Chicktok because you can see when they follow you,” Britney said. “So if I didn’t know who the guy was and he followed me on Chicktok then yeah I definitely would feel kind of weird about it.”
Emily from California
Emily (not her real name) is a sophomore at University of Southern California and she explained what led her to selling nudes online.
“I was just surfing the Internet and I saw an ad that said you can make money off your Snapchats, how cool is that?” Emily said. “I was broke as hell, I had literally no money. And then Chicktok came up and they offered you more money if you sent your Snapchat over.”
Emily made about $1,600 off selling nudes she took on her phone in just five days. She said it’s not worth it for most women because the fact that you can be found out and that you’re putting yourself at risk.
What are the risks?
Jenni isn’t concerned with the legal risks so much as the judgement she might get from people in her life.
“A lot of people might think you’re a slut,” Jenni said, “but what they don’t know is that I’m getting paid for it so really who’s the slut?”
Jenni mostly works with guys she either knows or strangers she feels comfortable talking to and sending nudes to.
“You do feel kind of weird because you don’t know if they’re going to post it, or tell anyone about it,” Jenni said. “But I feel like the majority are just regular guys that just want nudes.”
Is ChickTok Safe?
ChickTok markets themselves as being more than just a way for college girls to monetize their nudes. In a statement to The Daily Beast, they said “Chicktok is a social utility that empowers everyone to express themselves and be creative in meaningful ways.”
The company also pointed out that it does have moderators who monitor the site 24 hours a day. That’s good news for Britney, Emily, and Jenni, who all pointed out that they feel the site is safer than other apps that allow women to sell nudes.
“I don’t want to reveal my username publicly because I wouldn’t want people to know who I was,” Britney said. “But as far as security and everything, Chicktok seems a lot more secure than Snapchat.”
Emily agreed, but pointed out that the app’s security measures aren’t perfect and she still has her Instagram and Facebook linked to her profile.
“It’s never 100 percent safe,” Jenni said. “There are always loopholes that you could find.”
